Is The App Right for Me?

The FLX app takes you through a series of questions and assessment/movement exercises to establish your current level of mobility and pain and then devises a rehabilitation programme specifically for you.
The pain programme in the FLX app helps ease pain and manage musculoskeletal problems (those related to the joints, bones and muscles), including pain associated with work activities and daily living, such as foot pain, knee pain, back and shoulder pain.
The biomechanics programme in the FLX app helps you become more biomechanically efficient and helps prevent injuries.
The FLX app is designed to help you self-manage body pain. The pain programme in the FLX app will assess your current pain levels and monitor them over time as you do the exercises. It will also direct you to seek medical advice if you are either not suited to the programme or if you don't seem to be responding as would be expected.
Very little equipment is needed. Some exercises need equipment like a small ball or resistance band.
You can use things you will have in your house, such as a tennis ball or a towel or you can buy your own if you wish. The FLX app will help advise what you can use if you don't have physio equipment.
Exercise can be conducted at a time convenient to you, anywhere you feel comfortable. You just need a bit of floor space and a wall.
The app will take you through a series of exercises which takes 10 - 15 minutes. For all programmes, it's recommended that the exercises are performed daily. To complete the pain programme takes up to 6 weeks. The biomechanics program takes 12 weeks.
If you are pregnant, we recommend seeking medical advice before using the FLX app as there are certain elements which may not be safe to use. Breastfeeding mothers can use the FLX app, as long as they don't suffer from other conditions which would prevent them doing so.
The app is suitable for children aged 12 and above. In general, younger children don't suffer from musculoskeletal issues or diseases, and should see a healthcare professional if they do.
Using the FLX App
You should select the pain programme if you are experiencing pain or have an existing issue.
You should select the biomechanics programme if you are looking to improve your biomechanics, including your flexibility, to reduce your risk of injury as part of an active lifestyle to keep yourself healthy.
The FLX app will not provide you with a diagnosis but based on your input into the pain programme, it will identify appropriate exercises.
Open the FLX app on your device and log on using the email and password you created when you first registered. When you first created your profile, you'll have inputted your name and created a password. Password and username are both case sensitive.
Your password can be changed in account settings.
For the FLX app to operate on their device, users will need:

No, you can choose when to do the exercises to fit in with your daily life and you can set when you wish to receive reminders.
You will receive a push notification every day to remind you to do your exercise(s). There is also a dashboard in the app that shows how often you've done your exercises and, if you have pain, tracks your level of pain as you improve.
When using the FLX app biomechanics program yes, you can continue your normal routine.
If you're using the FLX app pain program, your pain will guide your ability to perform sports, but as you would normally, seek the help of a healthcare professional if the pain is interfering with your activity.
Yes, the FLX app can be used alongside any other treatment or interventions you may be using.

Although we personalise your experience using screening tests and tracking your progress, this should by no means be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and should not be relied on to make decisions about your health.
In the case of a health emergency, seek immediate assistance from emergency medical professionals. Never delay in obtaining medical advice, or disregard the advice of a medical professional, because of something you have read, or not read, on our site or app.
If you are a healthcare professional, you should continue to engage with any of your users who use the app as usual in accordance with good medical practice and should not solely rely on the information they submit to the app in order to discharge your responsibility for their care.
