EN 166 is moving on. So should your eye protection.
On 11 November 2025, the long established EN 166 standard was replaced by EN ISO 16321. The update reflects how workplace risks have evolved and introduces a globally harmonised approach to safety eyewear testing and marking.
By moving from a European EN standard to an ISO standard, EN ISO 16321 creates greater consistency across international markets while setting clear minimum performance requirements for modern eye protection.
Why this matters for buyers and wearers:
- Clearer, more consistent product markings
- Improved relevance to real-world hazards
- A stronger focus on wearer protection and usability
